Styling My Skater Skirt

17:04

Hey everyone! :)

It's no secret that I love skater skirts, I think they're great for styling in many different ways but also they're very flattering when on. This style suits many different body shapes as it goes in at the waist and then out giving the illusion of a smaller waist. So for today's post I will be showing you the ways that I style my skater skirt.

To start off with i'm gonna show you the particular skater skirt I like. I got this a long time ago but it's my all time favourite skater skirt. This skirt has an elasticated waist band which really hugs and cinches in the waist and that's purely the reason why I love it so much.

I don't think they sell this skirt anymore but skater skirts are pretty much everywhere so it won't be too difficult to find one something similar.

CASUAL
So for my casual outfit I would pop on a jersey baseball shirt, I particularly love patterned shirts as they give something extra to the outfit while still keeping it casual. I buy my baseball shirts a size larger so that they're loose and that's just the style I prefer. I tuck my baseball shirt into my skater skirt but I make it look quite messy and not neat, I would also roll up the sleeves to give it that casual messy look I then style it with my Converse, these are so on trend and it goes perfectly with the outfit. If I still want to add something extra, i'll pop on a beanie, I love this one as it's quite girly with the 'bonjour' which gives it a great touch. Then to finish it off, i'll throw on a leather biker jacket if it's cold outside.

COMFY
I labelled this the comfy outfit but it's also quite casual too so if baseball shirts and Converse are not your preferred style then maybe this is. The cropped jumper is from Topshop and I love the little cut out detailing to it as again it gives it that something extra. I think this will be great styled over a skater skirt, as the jumper is quite loose it will make it appear as your waist is smaller. As this is the comfy outfit, I decided to pair it with black opaque tights and simple black slipper shoes. The Mac lipstick is Shangai Spice, this is one of those lipsticks that give the 'your lips but better' effect and that's why I chose it because I wanted to keep everything quite simple. Then to add a pop of colour to the outfit I chose the Mini Office City Bag from Zara. The colour of this is perfect for Autumn/Winter as it's a deep plum and it will go great with the rest of the outfit.

DRESSY
This outfit is a step up from being casual so I decided to label it the dressy outfit. The white chiffon blouse is from Topshop and I love the fit, the style just everything about it. I feel that some blouses can drape on me and make me look shapeless but this is definitely not one of them. It has two pockets on the chest and gold tips on the collar. To style this I would tuck it into my skater skirt but keep it looking quite neat and pristine. Heeled boots will be great for this outfit as it still has that dressy look without it being too much, I paired mine with frill socks from Topshop but you could just simply pair it with black opaque tights. As this outfit is very monochrome, I'd pop some colour into it by having this bright red satchel and wearing Ruby Woo from Mac on my lips.

GOING OUT
Last but not least we have the going out outfit. I love this embellished cropped cami, it's such a great piece for dressing up an outfit and pairing this with a skater skirt will look amazing. No going out outfit is complete without heels, so i've chosen these from Zara they're quite simplistic but yet completely dresses up an outfit. The black clutch bag is from Ted Baker, I love the texture of this clutch and though the clutch is quite plain, the texture gives it that something more. Again, i'm choosing red to give a hint of colour to the outfit, I have the Rimmel Apocalips in Big Bang and a Barry M nail polish in Bright Red. I've also included the Nars Laguna Multiple, this is great for giving your skin a healthy glow.

So that is my four different ways I would style a skater skirt. Skater skirts are so in right now and are so easy to style up and down so it's a great investment of having a plain black skater skirt in your wardrobe. If you would like to see any of these looks on then leave a comment below.

On a side note, i've not been blogging frequently but this is because i'm currently in the stages of moving so i've been quite busy. During the end of this week, I would be moved in and have a lot more blog posts coming up.

Thanks for reading! :) xx
