Products I Regret Buying

09:33

Hello everyone!

Everyone posts reviews about items they absolutely l o v e with the occasional review about items they didn't work out for them so well. However, I don't see many posts about products people regret buying and these are my favourite types of posts to read! These posts help me to stay away from products which received way more hype than they should have and to save that extra bit of money.

Chanel Bronze Universal

This product received so much hype on youtube and in the blogging sphere! Everyone said it was amazing and after watching/reading many reviews on this product, I rushed out to buy it. I've had this product for well over a year and i've used it twice at the most. I really can't seem to work with this product. I have to swirl my brush many times before I can get some of the product onto my brush because its not as creamy as people would think. I've tried to spray my brush with Fix+ hoping that would help and it did but I also noticed it had dramatic side effects. Fix+ doesn't actually set my make-up, it simply stops my face from looking powdery so I didn't expect the product to last any longer on my skin than usual. However, what I did notice was it made the product more slippery and by the end of the night the bronzer had rubbed off, leaving streaks over my face from where the bronzer was applied. Further to this, when I do apply this bronzer it always comes out slightly patchy, if I apply more bronzer to correct the patchy area, it becomes even more obvious. I'm not sure whether this is due to the foundation I use underneath (Estee Lauder Doublewear) but I am going to trial this out with a few more foundations. Overall, I can say I'm not a fan of this product, I've had it for so long and I rarely reach for it but i'm still going to attempt to make this product work for me and will report back to you guys!

Urban Decay Naked 2

This was my first high end eyeshadow palette I bought. I don't know what attracted the Naked 2 more than the original Naked palette  but I was convinced when I bought it that my eyeshadow game will change. The colours I've reached for the most have been Chopper and Tease. Ive hardly touched the rest of the palette. The colours are stunning in this palette and the pigmentation when swatched is amazing, so you must be wondering whats wrong with it? Well, whenever I apply these eyeshadows, it comes out so chalky and patchy on my eyelids. I've tried using the Mac Painterly Paint Pot underneath and it didn't solve the problem at all. Now I only use these eyeshadows as a base when applying pigments or on top of them, never on their own. I am going to be investing in an eyeshadow primer soon and I'm hoping this will solve the issue!

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder

I bought this around a year ago at world duty free because I was in need of a new setting powder. I always set my make up when going out because I want my make-up to stay on for as long as possible. I did read some positive reviews on this product so I was expecting good results. However, once I apply this to my face it really sits into my pores making them visible. It also breaks down the foundation on my nose making it look extremely cracked. I tried applying it with a duo fibre face brush to pick up the least amount of product but this did not seem to fix this issue at all. Sometimes it made my make-up look so bad, I had to take it off and redo it! It safe to say I didn't receive the healthy glow which this product claimed to do.

Mac Studio Fluid Foundation

I have already reviewed this on my blog, you can view it by clicking here. However, to sum it up for you again this foundation is extremely cakey on the skin. I don't suffer from dry skin but whenever I put this foundation on my skin looks so dehydrated which is a big no no for me. This foundation is extremely yellow toned so makes me look quite ill. To add to all of this, you can definitely feel this foundation sitting on your face, it doesn't feel lightweight whatsoever.

YSL Terre Saharienne Bronzing Powder

I used to have such an amazing bronzer by YSL but unfortunately I lost it while on a night out. I knew YSL wouldn't have the exact one as it was bought many years ago so I wanted something similar, it did have a slight orange undertone with glitter but thats what I liked. When I went to the counter I told the assistant exactly what I was looking for and she recommended me shade 10. While she went off to collect the bronzer for me, I swatched shade 30 which was a matte bronzer with red undertones. She told me it wasn't suited for my skin and that it was discontinued, taking her advice I bought shade 10. However, Feel Unique was having a sale on and I saw that shade 30 was part of the sale so I purchased it. Shade 30 has become my holy grail bronzer and I'm so upset that its discontinued. As for shade 10? I hate it. The colour is quite light and I have a medium skin tone so the colour does not show up on my skin at all, its more like smearing glitter on your face. I have used it about twice but both times I didn't like it. Lesson I learnt from this experience was to always trust your own instincts when buying make-up!

So that sums up a few of the products I regret purchasing! I do like to work with products in different ways to see if I can find a better way to use them so I will keep you updated if I manage to fix any of these issues! Let me know down below whats some of your products you regret purchasing.

This was so refreshing I am so glad to have come across your page, you sure don't see many people doing reviews on product that didn't work for them its almost if not just as important as the ones that do. I have always been so curious about the Naked2 palette I use the first palette and although the colors look beautiful in the second palette that would be very frustrating if they didn't properly go on, it would be interesting to find out if people had similar problems with the Naked3 palette or if its just an issue with the second. Thanks so much for sharing.

  22. Oh wow I'm so surprised to hear that the Naked 2 palette was on this list! I've only ever heard great stuff about this. Good to know that it can be chalky and patchy. I haven't tried it yet because I just haven't gotten around to splurging on one yet. Though I really want to get the Naked 3. But I will definitely keep what you said in mind when I try!
You should consider doing a post on products not worth the hype. I am curious to find out what you would add.

  31. I'm really sorry to hear about your experience with Les Beiges since I've heard so much praise about it! I had it on my wishlist since I will need a new powder once the weather warms up. I will be weary now, maybe I'll try it in-store and see how it wears throughout the day. No one wants to take chances when it comes to such pricy products.

Btw I have the Naked2 palette and I simply adore it! I use every shade and I haven't experienced the patchiness you're talking about. It's funny how differently products work on different faces!

But not all products work for everyone I guess, I would recommend to you the Naked 1 but if this didn't work for you I don't know if 1 will.
